Service Description

Your Path to Pain Relief- A Journey through Periodontal Care and Pain Management for the Dental Clinician. A common misconception about periodontal care is that it’s painful- keeping our patients fearful and full of anxiety. In this course, we will uncover several pain management products that have made procedures like scaling and root planing and implant maintenance much more comfortable! This course will review techniques for managing anxious patients and building rapport, along with an injection technique refresh. Discover how you can use your existing knowledge around injections and pain management and incorporate new tools for success. Serve your patients best by encouraging natural products that work fast to promote healing and control bacteria by aiding the body’s natural recovery process. Upon the completion of this course, participants will:  Discuss perceptions of pain and associated trust-building techniques for treatment of the anxious patient.  Identify and recognize products and ingredients that can be used before, during, and after dental hygiene treatment to promote comfort and healing, and list their primary indications.  Review local anesthesia administration techniques that promote effective and profound anesthesia.  Implement pain management products and strategies into patient care, with emphasis on periodontal treatment and implant care for the dental hygienist. This course will incorporate audience participation and active learning with a PowerPoint presentation, including visual aids. Learners will be engaged with each other and share best practices/ experiences.
