Service Description

This class will be held on 1/08/2026 from 6:30-9:30 ET via ZOOM. You will receive 3 CEs for joining this class. You will receive the ZOOM link 24 hours prior to the class. -BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR JUNK MAIL The purpose of this class is to provide healthcare professionals with training on implicit bias to aid in clinical situations and decision-making. You are encouraged to take the IAT awareness test. Strategies to remedy the negative impact of implicit bias by recognizing and understanding how it impacts perception, judgment, and actions that may result in inequitable decision-making, failure to effectively communicate, and result in barriers and disparities in the access to and delivery of health care services. 3. The historical basis and present consequences of implicit biases based on an individual’s characteristics. At the completion of this class, the attendant should be able to: 1. Define implicit and explicit bias and recognize the difference 2. Understand the differences in culture and recognize our own biases 3. Outline the consequences of implicit biases 4. Understand the importance of inclusion as well as the disadvantages to exclusion 5. Identify ways to aid in the reduction of disparities in the delivery of care 5. Problem solve. How can we, as healthcare professionals, be a part of the solution About the Speaker: Angela Study has been a dental hygienist for 20 years and is a member of the ADHA, the IDHA (Indiana Dental Hygiene Association) as well as her local component (The Isaac Knapp District Dental Society). Angela has served on the leadership board for Safe Families for Children, an organization that serves marginalized and vulnerable families. Angela is a member of the United Front Community Foundation, which is a diversity initiative in her home city of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Angela holds a DEIB certificate from Cornell University.
